The Kiski-Conemaugh Stream Team:

The mission of the Kiski-Conemaugh Stream Team is to educate and engage citizen stewards in maintaining, enhancing and restoring the natural resources of the Kiski-Conemaugh River Basin.

"Bony Piles" - unusuable coal refuse piles

Sulfur Run Borehole

Boreholes are where an abandoned mines discharges water to the surface
Notice the red staining and high algal content due to iron precipitate in discharged water

We maintain 191 approved sampling points (over five counties) with a core of 38 volunteers in an area of over 1800 square miles.

We contribute two approaches to restoring the natural beauty of the rivers and streams in Armstrong, Cambria, Indiana, Somserset and Westmoreland counties and are headquartered in Johnstown, Pennsylvania.
